Student Representative council

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to clarify some misconceptions that have been circulating throughout the campus about firstly, the state of the university and secondly the SRC committee.
The university is in great shape comparably to 5 years ago. This has been attributed to previous councils and cooperation by the university faculties.

I hope that you all can appreciate the role of SRC and that is to advocate on your behalf. That may mean we do not get the desired outcome but rest assure we are happy to speak the minds of individuals no matter how great of small nor whether we believe them to be in the same view as ours.

For those unaware, IMU has a chat box where students can write how they feel about issues at Uni. Some students have abused this open forum by posting unprofessional and if I’m honest, disgusting posts about other people and the state of their exam results. As you don’t have to put your name to these comments I find the action of those people very unbecoming of health care professionals in the future.

After numerous warnings I have decided to take down the chat box and would invite anyone who has an issue with this council or other issues to send me an email to src_reps@imu.edu.my alternatively come down to the student lounge and have a chat with us in person.

Lastly, I would like to convey my disappointment in these individuals. I have sent the IP address to the IT department and the comments to the executive deans for their perusal.
I’m sorry that this has not been a pleasant posting but I feel that it is necessary to outline to all students that some people are behaving in this fashion.

!!PUBLICIZE YOUR EVENTS!!

To help you publicize student events and happenings in uni I would just like to inform you that other than using the standard ways like posting up posters and using the src blog and fb, students are also able to use the desktop computers AND the TV outside the library known as the "Electronic Notice Board."

The use is restricted to publicizing upcoming events and students can submit a maximum of 5 flash messages each with a maximum of 15 characters including spaces. ( So pictures are good)

All you need to do is fill in a form from SSD- a picture of which I've posted below and you're done!

If anyone has any other ideas of improving communication between students please come find us and share with us your ideas.

Cheers
