Congratulations to our Pharmacy students!

Dear all,

I am pleased to announce that our Pharmacy students got 2nd Runner Up for the 1st IIUM National Pharmacy Quiz 2009. Congratulations to them!

Here is an article from one of the participants:

Just last month on the 3rd and 4th of October 2009, the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) had organised and hosted its first ever National Pharmacy Quiz in its very own campus in Kuantan, Pahang. The 2-day Quiz, by the theme “Gearing young pharmacists towards knowledge”, was taken part by 14 teams of participants representing 9 pharmacy schools across the country. IMU, too, had taken up the challenge and 8 of us from B106 had represented our university in 2 teams of 4 individuals.

The competition was fun and exciting, nothing less. Participating in the quiz had reminded all of us, especially myself, that as pharmacy students, we should tirelessly recollect all that we have learnt and always strive to learn beyond those that were taught. At the same time, the competition had indirectly provided us a platform to get to know and interact with other pharmacy students from around Malaysia. This, in my humble opinion, had greater significance than the actual competition itself as such interactions would promote a sense of goodwill, respect and unity amongst future pharmacists in Malaysia.

The entire journey had certainly been a valuable learning experience for myself and I do hope that there will be more of such events in the future that will bring benefit to the healthcare community.

Tutorial on Building Your Own Personal Website

Dear All,

The Centre for Medical Education (CtME), with the assistance of the Learning Resources Dept, has scheduled a continuing series of lunchtime educational sessions in support of advancing e-learning and use of digital resources at IMU. The venue will be E-Lab 1, Level 3, Bukit Jalil.

This week's 1 hour power point workshop is scheduled for Wednesday, 18 November 2009, 12.15 -1.15pm and is opened to all IMU staff and students.

The Topic : Building Your Own Personal Website

Description:
In this one-hour learning session, we will explore Google Sites, which is a free and easy-to-learn/use tool to build your own personal website. Although, it has limited features, it could be an excellent tool for lecturers to build their own personal homepage.

Here are two simple examples from INCEIF:

Dress Code in the Library

Dear all,

As there have been many incidents of theft and outsiders coming into IMU to use our facilities, the SRC and SSD would like for the library to ensure that the students who use the library abide by the dress code and wear their IMU ID tags at all times.

Therefore, starting from the 16th of November (Monday), the librarians will turn away all students who do not comply to the IMU dress code including neck-ties and the IMU ID tag. Students are requested to take note of this matter and to please abide by the new rule for the everyone's safety.

Also, as a few students have inquired, on the 31st of October the library opened 20 minutes later than usual as the staff on-duty could not start her car (incidentally, both staff members are housemates and come to work together). The head librarian would like to apologize for the inconvenience caused.

Warmest regards,
Zia Shah
